Content Expert/Copywriter & Editor


We are a growing and highly ambitious digital marketing agency looking for an experienced content expert/copywriter and editor to join our team.

This is a new role within the agency and as such will allow you to have direct input into how we operate. This is the perfect role someone looking to move out of freelancing back into an office environment, or someone in an in-house or agency role who is looking for more freedom and a fresh challenge.

The Job

As our in-house content expert, primarily you will be responsible for helping to develop a content strategy and delivering different styles of written content to clients. Our clients vary in size and industry (includes, sport, travel, luxury goods and SaaS) and you will need to be able to quickly gain an understanding of their business, needs and markets.

In addition to writing some of the content yourself, you will also be responsible for managing our existing freelancers and editing their work to ensure it meets our standards.

Finally, you will also be responsible for different aspects of our in-house content; including proofreading key documents, aiding in the creation of marketing materials and helping to develop our content processes.

  • Copywriting – Creation of content for projects across our client list. This will include static site pages, as well as a host of other on-site and link building resources; for example, blogs, articles, press releases, digital ads and guides
  • Freelancer management & editing – You will manage our existing freelance writers and edit their content to ensure it meets our needs and the client’s requirements
  • Proofreading – As well as proofing the freelancer’s output, you will also be responsible for proofreading internally created documents
  • Content strategy input – You will work with the rest of the team to create effective and interesting content strategies
  • Creation of content guidelines & tone of voice – Where they don’t already exist, you will create the tone of voice and general content guidelines
  • Client meetings – When required, you will attend client meetings with the project lead to discuss content requirements and feedback
  • Personal development – Working with your line manager, you will help develop your own development and training plan
  • Agency improvement – As with every member of the team, you will be expected to take the lead in developing our approach in your speciality, as well as having an active role in improving other areas of the agency
The Person

Must haves

  • 2+ years of copywriting experience across different topics and industries
  • Agency experience (preferable but not essential)
  • High level of written English
  • Ability to think creatively and come up with novel approaches
  • An extremely high level of attention to detail
  • High standards and the desire to produce something we can be proud of
  • Time and project management skills, with the ability to question and push back when required
  • Ability to quickly pick up new topic areas, concepts and styles
  • Understands the requirements of writing for the web
  • An understanding of the content requirements for digital advertising is preferable but not essential
  • Ability and confidence to present ideas and concepts in meetings
  • Someone who wants to be social and fits with the people already here
  • Based/willing to work in Oxford
